walk

How can I slow my pace?

I've got just two more weeks until I am cleared to walk normally again after breaking my foot a while ago. As you can imagine, it is not an easy thing to do to remember to slow down my pace. However, after four weeks of being super careful, I'm not about to be careless now...unless I forget and go back to my faster gait.

Have you ever broken a bone and needed to slow down? (Or needed to slow your pace for another reason.)

Isn't that what happens in life? We can try to build new habits that will build positive results, but we sometimes "forget" what we are trying to achieve and where we are trying to get to. A broken foot is literal and figurative pain to deal with, but it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Yet there is something people forget all the time that really needs to be attended to, and that is the present moment. Intentionally remembering to build in a pace of slowing down and spiritually aligning oneself to God and oneself isn't just a temporary inconvenience, it is the thing that allows us to really the prize of God has for us...a life well lived for Him, a life where we can appreciate the gifts He has for us even in the everyday pleasures and treasures, and the goal of keeping our eyes on Him.

June is a perfect time of year to recalibrate and set an easier pace so that we can achieve all that really matters in life. For more on two super simple ways to do that, you can click here to listen to this week's podcast
